New to the school

Hey All,

Just wanted to make my obligatory "New Guy" thread. I recognize a lot of you from A5OG where I've been spending most of my time the last 2 years or so.

I've mainly been lurking around this site for a while, getting a lay of the land before making this thread. I usually don't like to jump in with both feet and make a lot of waves. I really like the vibe on this site versus A5OG. The threads are a lot more to the point with very little thread jacking going on. It seems that this is a very adult-based site, and I can really appreciate that. By that, I mean that everyone on here seems to act like they should.

My name is Dustin, and I live outside of Jackson, MS. Been here about 6 years now. I've really only been playing for about 2 years, but got addicted to it very quickly. Imagine that.

I became an Ego owner earlier in the year. I bought a Fern/Gunmetal Ego 08 and Rotor locally back in May. I traded it, my A5, and a little cash for a Combat Ego 10. Needless to say, I love it.

I shipped the Rotor off to dbug for some custom love, and couldn't be happier the way it turned out. Other than a Pooty Cure 3, she's purely stock right now. Well, I do use a DW Fibur w/Freak kit instead of the SHAFT barrel. I run with a 48/4500. I love how compact and light the Egos are compared to my A5. What a difference.

Anyhoo, here's what she looks like. I appreciate you guys for having me, and I look forward to being a little more involved with the site.

I miss the combat colors, they look just awesome. I love the whole set up dude, very well done. All is well, except that Steelers logo, but we can forgive you on that. ;)

Thanks man. The Combat was by far my favorite 10 color. It was the first Ego that really started making me like Egos......back when I thought elector "speedball" guns were the devil.

As for the Steelers, well I suppose the other teams need some fans too! I'm from Southwestern PA originally, it's in my blood.

The first ego I owned was the champagne. Its a great color scheme but then again it was my first ego though, so take it as you will. I love the color scheme but I'm a sucker for the stormtrooper and vampire scheme which I own one of each right now and both are dead sexy. You gotta rock what you like if not its worth owning.

Besides getting that pooty bolt, I'm not sure what else you'd want to do with it other than play paintball. :)

I adopted the old Magilla Gorilla name last year when I started playing paintball - co-worker of mine was rebuilding his old team, and that nickname stuck (team name was Stealth Monkeys, btw, so it sort of fit in with that theme). Plus, I used to watch the Grape Ape on TV when I was a kid (Hanna-Barbera cartoon hour LOL).

My SL94 was one of only two I found in my price range, and this was the better-looking of the two. I added the ETEK3 about a month later as my workhorse/backup marker.

You can say that again! I love not having to think about what I need to do to it next to make it perform better. My A5 was all about performance, not looks. I spent WAY too much time trying to figure out how to make it perform better!

I got the nickname when I was in the Air Force. I started out working on the F-15 and then switched to SATCOM before I got out.

When I went to the SATCOM shop, my work ethic from working on jets carried over. We delployed 3 weeks after 9/11 and ran into a little problem. We couldn't anchor our antenna to the ground because we couldn't penetrate the rock that we were setup on top of. We had some boxes of runway repair material brought over so that we could tie off to them (something like 2000 pounds each or something). The forklift operator put them too close to the antenna, but left with the forklift before we could correct it. There were only a few working foklifts on site, and it was going to be a day or two before we could get one again.

I eyeballed the boxes then started to put a cargo strap around one end of one. I tugged on it a bit and called some guys over. We got it to budge a bit, so I got everyone on the crew to come over. We were able to walk all of the boxes (4 in all) away from the antenna, so that we could anchor onto it.

When we got done, I looked at them and said "That's how you take care of business, Flightline-style" (or something to that effect). So, it stuck.

Damn, that's nice man. Formerly from A5OG as well. I know you see a huge difference in your game play with your Ego. Don't get me wrong, I loved my A5's but it is not an apple to apple comparison. Your color scheme rocks...

Yup. I played a scenario this weekend and got a lot of looks and questions about my Rotor. I talked him up quite a bit and more than a few guys wrote down his website. Hope he gets some more work. He is awesome at it.
