Ever wonder what the cockpit of the Shuttles looks like?

And those chairs do not look comfortable. If I'm going into space I was comfort for the backside.

Tempur-Pedic, now famous for matresses, is actually the dense foam used in both the space shuttle and high performance military jets for cushions. It is actually quite comfortable.
