Okay so I was all excited to play with my new 05 this last weekend at SuperGame!!! Well the marker had other plans. first sign of being told to F off by my marker was when I chronoed i couldn't get the balls more then 5 feet from me. So i tried new batteries...same problem.....so I tore it all down everything looked fine...Had a tech look at it..he said the washers on teh reg were wrong so he fixed them and oiled that and the LP adjustment. I bumped up my dwell from 9 to 11(maxed out on the Virtue board) and was sounding great..so off to the chrono. balls were actually going down range...yeah well lots of drop and couldn't chrono over 220. It would shoot 22...then 185, 175, and so on. I took it back and we were looking at it..tried a completely different reg..no change. Running it with out paint it wasn't cycling. seemed like it was in training mode. We reset the board..it would work well but still go back into the training mode I want to say. Still could never chrono even close to 285.

any ideas.... The Eclipse guy at the game at one point said maybe the QEV but he kinda dropped that... The only thing I can come up is that maybe when I sent my board to Virtue to be re-flashed they screwed it up. The marker seems fine mechanically.

had similar prob with my etek, so did you try a factory reset on the board?

The first thing I would recommend is downloading the manual if you don't have it. This will help with oring sizes, and correct assembly of the HPR, LPR and general troubleshooting.

First I would recommend setting the dwell to the stock value (I'll have to look this up for an 05). Set your LPR back to flush and check to mak

Once these are done, be sure that the HPR shims are assembled correctly and that there are 16 of them. The shims should sit like this on the HPR piston )()()()()()()(
Next check the piston in the HPR and make sure that the seat is still in place at the bottom of the piston (there should be a small plastic disk in the bottom of the piston).
If this is missing or damaged replace the piston.

Next check the LPR assembly to ake sure it is assembled and lubed properly. There are 5 parts in the LPR cap. The Adjuster screw, adjuster piston (small silver cup-like part), silver spring, followed by the piston and gold spring (make sure they are in this order from the front of the LPR ;) )

Also check the QEV's for damage. and replace if needed.

These are the most common causes. If one of those doesn't resolve the issue we can help further.

1.check for a crimped hose.. between marker body and grip frame.. seems you're not letting enough air get in.
2. is your LPR out? allen screw should be flush with the body
3. is your HPR out? Screw all the way out and then in 2 full turns.(~ 280-285fps)

okay lots of good tips..I will get back to you all...I did do a factory default on the board. The default Dwell according to the manual is 9.

okay so I non of the lines are damaged or pinched, The Qevs all look to be in good working order. Ill air it up and run some paint through it and see what happens

since the LPR is recessed should the allen be flush with the recessed part or the outer rim of the LRP?

The latter one.

Two questions:

1- Did you put a drop of oil on the QEV diaphragms?
2- Is it still cold where you're playing?

Reason I ask this is that I've had extremely similar issues w/ my 07 and those were two issues that shut me down. If the diaphragms are dry they won't flex like they're supposed to. As for the weather, if it's too cold out, the solenoid doesn't have enough power going to it in it's default mode (Lo) to cycle and may need to be switched to "Hi". Doesn't sound like the issue here, but something to throw in the memory bank. Good luck!

This issue reeks of a QEV diaphram failure. Make sure you do more than just look at them. Bend 'em and stretch 'em to see if you can find a tear. Definitely put a little oil on them.

I'm not an expert on pre-'07 egos, but I've heard of similar problems if the valve guide is upside down and the LPR springs being in the wrong order (if you're using a silver and gold spring).

okay I will take a look at all those tips... It wasn't cold out..probably in the high 60's and low 70's Okay I will tear into the marker again tomorrow when I get home. When you say oil the QEV Diaphragm , am I putting oil in the QEV itself??

I have been trying to contact Virtue to see if there was anything on there part. I have not been able to get a response from Virtue in Two weeks. Has anyone else had any similar problems with thee?

No, take the QEV apart & inspect the diaphragm. If there are any tears/nicks, replace it. It may just be dry, so put a drop of oil on it.

Yeah, Like Double A said, pull it out - bend it, and see if there are rips/tears at the base of the cone. When those things fail, it's almost impossible to see any damage unless they got dry and exploded into pieces.

didnt get a chance to get into the marker today..but I was looking at the Macro line. I noticed the inside diameter on the Macro is much larger on my IOn then the Macro on the EGO?? Would that smaller diameter macro not allow as much air into the marker? I dont think so but the thought did cross my mind

okay So I got he all apart today...Does the 05 have the QEV Diaphragm? is that the piece on the exhaust pin? If so that looked okay Once I put it all back together I tried to run some paint in it...marker would barley cycle so no change
