Technical Overview

Every year we try to offer every SL owner the ultimate in Style , Innovation , Performance , Features and Adjustability .
In previous years the SL line has included User Definable options for features such as the operating pressure and LPR style as well as classic Ego options such as spring or magnetic trigger return and opto and micro switch options. This year we have taken things a step further with these options, and the SL comes as standard with 2 different trigger combinations. The first style matches what has become the default Ego trigger shape of the last few seasons. A sleek, curved S-type trigger. The second could be considered more of a classic 2-finger design. Both come pre-installed into the dual-mounted roller bearing carrier complete with magnet and spring returns and all adjustment screws and pins. Simply unbolt one bearing carrier, pull out the trigger assembly, and drop in the next.

Internally the SL94 also sees some new upgrades. For the first time we have the New Zick2 kit and Cure3 bolts.

The Zick2 is the next natural progression from the original Zick. It now has a 3-Stage damping effect on the rear stroke, utilizing an air cushion, a hollow-domed PU shock absorbing cushion and a solid final-stop PU bumper. This all combines to decelerate the rearward motion of the bolt and rammer in an even more controlled manner than the previous Zick. Not only that, but the new tail design of the rammer shaft further helps reduce initial drive force on the forward stroke to limit possible damage to the ball being loaded into the barrel.

Sitting above the new Zick2 Rammer kit you will find the new Cure3 bolt. Through observation of the interactions between balls in the feed stack using the very latest High Speed Video equipment we have been able to refine the design of the profiled surface on the top edge of the Bolt. By doing this we have managed to reduce the amount of crush placed on the ball stack in the feed tube during the firing cycle. This helps eliminate cracking of fragile paint and pre-loaded fractures in the stack when used with force-feed loaders.

Of course the rest of the SL94 is beautifully machined and executed as ever, with bespoke designed and machined parts that will only ever be used on the SL range. In-line regulators that remove all superfluous mass. Pared down grip frame. Shaved OOPS body. New on-the-fly clamping feed lever Sprocket screw. And of course the latest generation SL2 Shaft barrel kit, complete with 2 lengths of tip and 3 different internal bore dimensioned backs. Everything that could be done to remove weight and leave a stunningly designed gun has been done. This is the pinnacle of the 2009 Ego Range. The SL94.

Pure hot, but probably not worth the extra ~$500 or so

I think it might be....the barrel kit with extra fron alone is about 90 bucks, plus the re-do of the cure and zick series, and the redo of the LPR...
All the little things added really do make it a class in its own. I just wish they had other colors to choose from. the whites blacks, and earth tones all around dont really do it for me.

If I picked one up, Sarge from AsA would have it in his hands within a week for a new anno ;)

I'm not really excited about the SL94. The specs don't really jump out at me as much. The milling isn't as attractive as the SL8R or SL74 or SL66.
The zick 2 could be interesting, but I'll really have to wait and see how much the benefit is over the Zick.
The cure2 is already an extremely impressive bolt, and I've had no issues with chops.
The fact that it comes with 2 triggers is kind of neat, but beyond that I'm not shaking with excitement for it like I was the SL8R. Maybe they'll add a talking board for the amusement factor.
The colors this year leave a lot to be desired, so hopefully Warped Sportz and some other PL guns will drop with insane color schemes.
While I understand the weight savings is something everyone looks at, and most of us know there isn't much more to shave off. The .06 lbs that it saves over the Geo makes it that much less attractive, after shooting the Geo this past weekend.

I'm sure the gun will be great, but its not on my list of must haves. I'll add one to my SL collection in a few years when they are dirt cheap.

Did they copy the Rev-I trigger, or is the picture different from the video image?

edit- see there are 2 triggers included.

Really the colors have been a turn off to me too. Im some what interested in the Lime ccu kit on the top one in that picture but Im not drooling over it like some SL8R.

I couldnt see my self ever buying a PE gun new, but If I had a SL8R and was happy with it but wanted the SL94, I would just buy the zick2 and cure3 when those are sold for upgrades.

Ya its sweet but still nothingly overly new....but how much new can you do to an already BA line of guns....

I agree with the cost being abit overwhelming. And thats from a guy still getting to know his own limited run '09. I might have stretched if I wasnt sure my wife would have burried me with the SL had I gone much higher!
