black and white ego 8
semi automatic uncapped
after shooting for a bit, my ego 8 then ramps uncontrollably on it's own even when i'm not pulling the trigger. i have found that i can sometimes stop it from hosing off by pulling and releasing firmly once more on the trigger. this stops it for then but it will keep ramping unexpectedly shortly thereafter (upon beginning to fire once more). not everytime i shoot the gun, but 2 or 3 times per hopper (which is all it takes to empty a rotor)
SO ANNOYING
is it time to get a virtue/tadao oled?
i have tried cleaning eyes, fieldstripping and cleaning, changing board settin from switch to opto, replacing detents, replacing battery,
sometimes the eyes don't detect balls either, for what reason i cannot tell
please adivse
many thanks!

Have you tried adjusting the trigger forward / out / away from the microswitch?

not yet, but the trigger setting has been the same for a year and only acted up a week ago
i will let out the set screw in the trigger so as to provide more travel, and report back!
thanks!
p.s. whats better switch or opto
thanks

No worries mate.
It's really personal preference, but I prefer micro.
screws, over time, do, UNSCEW..lol Id check that first.
vibration of use alone can cause a screw to back out. so like HS said, check them.
as for the eyes, a qtip and rubbing alcohol after a weekend use will keeep them detecting proper

Yea, that was pretty scary last night watching it just shoot on it's own like that. I could see that being a safety hazard.
Joel, I'm assuming this is you.

Just wondering if you ended up finding out what the problem was.

I just recently replaced my stock trigger and am experiencing the same issues.

Is there a method to setting the trigger screws? I've messed with it for about two hours and still haven't gotten rid of the "mystery shooting." I reset the board to factory reset figuring it was a debounce issue. Still acting silly.

take the grip off and look at the activation point on the micro switch. Make sure when the trigger is not being pulled the micro switch is not being hit.

Thanks Mongo. ha. So simple, I feel stupid. This is my first run at anything but a Tippmann/Tiberius.

My ego9 did that yesturday, and i was able to stop it firing by itself by grabbing the trigger and pulling forward towards the tip of the barrel to stop it.In the end it was that i had adjusted the trigger activation point to close to the switch....so i backed out the activation point and it stopped.

This is my first PE marker. My first EGO.
Played with it yesterday. Now I have a question.....
Does the magnet for the trigger return on my 06 go bad!? It seems that there is magnet there, but it's not strong enough. If you shake the marker too hard, as if while running, it shoots by itself.
Will getting a parts kit for the marker get me a magnet? That is kind of where i'm leaning at this point. The trigger just flops around. I had other EGOs at my disposal, and they had more tension on the trigger. I am assuming it's the magnet.

Have you tried adjusting the magnet tension? I am unfamiliar with the trigger on the 06 but if it is anything like the others, there should be a way to adjust it. If it isn't on the outside of the trigger, maybe it can be done by removing the grip frame and getting in at the trigger through the top?
