Does using training mode frequently like an hour a day for practice inside the house, hurt the gun in any way?

thanks in advance

From what I can see it does run up the shot counter (at least on my star frame), but I have no idea if it actually does any damage. (probably not?)

I'm guessing that its an 07 Ego based on this thread being in the 07 Ego subsection.

I don't think it will hurt anything

What exactly is the training mode? I've looked at it, but never really been able to figure out exactly what it is, even when reading the manual

training mode allows you to work on walking the trigger, it measures the number of pulls and if you have the display set to average rate of fire you can see how you are doing. When you pull the trigger the board/noid clicks so you can hear when you have made a pull.

Straight from the Ego8 Manual (sorry, that's what I own and it's pretty much the same for the other models)

The TRAININ parameter is used to select Training Mode. In
Training Mode the Ego8 will function exactly the same as normal
but with two important differences:-
1. The solenoid valve is under - driven so that the rammer only
moves a small amount and does not strike the exhaust valve. This
simulates the firing cycle without wasting air and generating
lots of noise.
2. The BB SS is overridden so that the Ego8 can cycle without
paint. The centre of the BB SS indicator changes to a ‘T’ to indicate
that Training Mode is enabled.

It's not going to hurt anything using it, it's why it is there and you can reset your shot counter if you like. :D

On Mutt's Ego there's a couple other features of the Training mode:

3. High pitched training whistle to ensure Mutt doesn't get out of line on the field.
4. Commands such as sit, heel, and play dead pre-programmed. Up to 150 additional user defined commands are able to be added for complete training versatility.
5. New to the 08 model, retractable leash and chew toy dispenser.

So with the training mode, are you supposed to put paint through the marker? Or even hook up your air tank. That is the part I don't understand.

no paint but I think you hook up and turn on the air in that model

Melonhead

You hook up the air. The solenoid releases enough air to cycle the bolt and rammer but not open the valve.

You don't need to add paint. ;)

It's not going to shoot. It just simulates firing and uses air to do so but you will not use any noticeable air from your tank. It's a way to practice using your Ego without having to actually shoot paint. You're just practicing using your trigger. I will tell you that on uncapped, ramping mode, you'll fire way faster than you will ever get your Ego to go. My highest is 49 bps.

Maybe I wont be the only one that is gonna be going for a swim at spaceballs?

on a more serious note...

Listen to this guys and you'll be golden. I just hooked my sl8r up with air tank that is like 300psi and put it on training and was able to "train" with it.

Ok, that is what I did, but I was afraid that doing that is what caused me to blow my o rings in my QEV
