well, its been quite a while since anyone introduced a Dye product to this forum, so i thought.... what the heck?! below is my DM6, a four+ year old spool-valve marker that requires a bit more 'attention' to maintain but will out-perform any Geo on the planet. did i really just say that?? what it lacks in 'simplicity' and 'convenience' (by way of an LED screen and a 3-dynamic o-ring drivetrain) it more than compensates for in smoothness of shot, consistency and accuracy. we all like what we like, and our preferences define our decisions, but for me personally this marker is the cat's pajamas....
here is the DM as it was when i first got it (bone stock)...

Just bustin your chops Gress. I love the feel of the DM/PM spoolies. They are like silk, but the upkeep on them outweighs the performance for me personally. I just don't like having that many o-rings.
Does this mean you're settling down with a couple nice markers for a while?

Well being a geo owner I guess I will bite the bait. Not going to flame in any way so don't worry just going to say what I know. My geo plus shot the first 4 shots 300, 300, 300, 302 out of the box. It also hit a ten inch plate with two hoppers full at 50' without missing after the first few balls where I shot high because I was used to my etek.
What I know of the dm pms are from my two team members who I have played with for the past 3 years. I have never been to a game with them where they worked out of the bag. One or both of them always have a blown o ring or a stuck bolt and also have jumped all over the place on the chrono. They both use freak kits and paint match so that's not the problem. On the pm he tends to break paint in the breach all the time. These guys have been balling for a long time and take care of their gear. Also one of the guys is a marker repair expert who can fix about anything that shoots. Im not sayin the geo is better im just sayin.;)

great response and very well articulated, mongo. :thumbs up:
for me, having owned both markers and from my personal experience and preferences, i still believe that the DM is the superior shooter*. that said, i would NEVER take anything away from PE as the craftsmanship of and list of appointments for their markers is second to none. my experience with my Geo was that it was a well-made and reliable marker. my experiences with my DM have been the same - well-made and reliable - and i have not lost a moment of playing time since switching marker platforms. the most noticable difference between them is the shot quality, with the advantage sloped heavily toward the DM, and my suspicion is that what the Geo gains from the design and simplicity of its drivetrain (efficiency and ease of maintenance) it is giving up in shot quality.
and i love the Yankee/Boston reference, too! while i am not fan of any pro sports, i'd wear my Crimson Tide gear into Neyland Stadium any day of the week and twice on gameday! LOL
(*notice that i am saying "shooter" and not overall marker)

okay.... so, we did a side by side tonight with the DM6 and the Droid. both are absolutely sick shooters with crazy accuracy and smooth like buttah. however, the DM6 sorta nudged out the Droid, even though the MacDev was shooting a little hotter (abt 10fps) than the Dye. either way, both spoolies are SUPERB and each threw out a straight rope of paint at the pine tree in MJs back yard. the overall advantage still goes to the Droid b/c of its superior efficiency over the air-hog DM, but from a pure shot smoothness the slope angles toward the DM.

G is right. The DM is slightly smoother, but both are great guns. Don't forget how wowed you were by the Viking. One of the best shooting poppit guns we've ever shot - not bad for a 2003 marker.
BTW, I feel like poop today. I was slightly overserved last night.
