You need a back to go with it...

I have no experience with these barrels and have no idea of price, but here is a link for the entire unit...

Yes, you will need barrel backs to go with a barrel tip. The backs are sized so you can match it closer to the paint size. I have a dye ultra lite back that is .688 and I would like to get a .692 and a .684 that way I can get the best match to the paint I'm using.

I love the Ultralite, have it on my Mini however I love my Shaft barrels even more.

I'm a fan of keeping my Ego as stock as I can meaning Shaft kit and all.

Like I said in another post of yours Jester, my recommendation is give the marker a try for a little while before changing anything around. Saves you money in the long run because for all you know, you'll love it all as is.

I've had Ultralites in the past, and they are a fairly nice barrel, a notch about the freak kit (IMO) but the Shaft Kits/SL kits from Eclipse are much nicer barrels (again IMO).

The SL kits in particular seem to weigh less, I think they look much better on the Ego's and they are a very high quality barrel, and the reverse threading is great. Much easier to get the barrel back and front apart.

the only guns i change the barrel on are autocockers because you need to fit the paint to bore perfect or the paint rolls out the front. the stock barrels on egos are fine.

ultralites are crazy expensive, too. $55-$60 for each back and another $60 for a tip. so a three-back kit will set you back $215 on the low end. for $185 you can pick up a Deadlywind and a full stainless steel Freak insert set for it which will give you the same or better performance and more versatility. you can save another $30 if you went with an aluminum Freak insert set.

however, i'd recommend just rolling with the stock barrel for at least a couple of weekends of play, as Hoot suggested, and then do your homework on barrels/kits if you still want one.
