This section Thread is dedicated to the history of Planet Eclipse Markers. A link will be provided to the "rare markers" thread on PBNation that is updated by Planet Eclipse in case you are curious about the rarity of a specific factory anno job. The images in here will represent Each years markers. The images in this thread are provided by members (credit for images will be updated as I get time). This list will include the Stock body marker, SL Marker and any private label bodies (this does not include guns that are a stock milling with a team or other limited anno). This thread was created to help new users be able to identify each year marker from others. If you have any questions feel free to PM me or ask in the sub forums. If you have one of the markers that is listed, but does not have a photo posted please PM ME, I would like to start having more uniform pictures to identify key differences.
Here is also a direct quote from Jack Wood on the SL naming.
I make up the name every year.
The first year we did and SL (SL66) I based the flowing lines loosly on the Merc CLS but ended up calling it SL (another Merc brand) as it fitted quite nicely with Super Light but still had a Merc reference.
66 came from the 6th model of 06 released, as stated above.
74 came from 4th type of 07 released (Etek, 07, PL, SL)
8r came from Mercedes Mclaren SLR
94 came from 4th Ego SL ever released (SL91 was supposed to be 1st Geo SL ever released)
SLS came from the Merc SLS. Stunning looking car
So the naming is random. Each year is something different.........
Someone please copy and paste this somewhere so I don't have to type it again next year :)
